Hereditary Hemochromatosis (HHC) is the most common genetic disorder affecting Canadians. It is a crippling, potentially fatal condition caused by a defect of iron metabolism that leads to iron overload in vital organs, joints and tissues. The complications caused by the disorder are preventable if a diagnosis is made before the excess iron causes irreversible damage, and effective treatment exists.
The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society was established to create awareness about this little-known, but common disorder so that early diagnosis would become the rule rather than the exception and needless suffering and premature death from undiagnosed hemochromatosis would become a thing of the past. In the meantime, we are here to provide information and support to those adversely affected by iron overload.

YOU ARE INVITED!
The Canadian Hemochromatosis Society is proudly hosting its first annual IRONS for IRON golf events in three cities across the country during the month of May, hemochromatosis awareness month:
Vancouver Event – Quilchena Golf & Country Club, Richmond, BC
Thursday, May 16, 2013 - 2:00 pm golf with dinner to follow
Cape Breton Event –The Lakes Golf Club, Ben Eoin, Cape Breton
Monday, May 20, 2013 – 12:30 pm lunch with golf to follow
Calgary Event – Speargrass Golf Course, Carseland (southeast of Calgary)
May 30, 2013 – 1:30 pm golf with dinner to follow
IRONS for IRON is a fun day of golf with friends to help support the CHS and build awareness of hereditary hemochromatosis, Canada’s most common genetic disorder. Players of all skill levels are invited to participate. Your registration fee of $200 will cover greens fees, a meal, and door prizes. For those of you who don’t want to golf but wish to support CHS, a $100 registration fee option for the meal only is also available. A donation receipt will be provided for the portion of the registration fee that is in excess of the golf fees and event charges. Early registration is encouraged as spots are limited.
Register here or sponsor the event!
The following is a list of information sessions and other events happening in your community.
